How to Clean Registry
Most of us rely on our computers for
maintaining documents, software, and enjoying daily use.
Cleaning the registry in the computer will improve its
efficacy. It will not slow down but will function at the optimum level.
The registry is comprised of stored information; from
hardware to software. But, viruses and spy ware can wreak havoc the
registry as well.
Moreover, a remnant of all software that is installed and
removed to and from your computer remains in the registry and thus acts as a clogging agent. This leads to a
slower startup and even slower browsing.
You can learn how to clean Registry in two ways: Either
you purchase one of the numerous registry cleaning softwares that are sold at the online stores, or you may
choose to manually clean the computer’s registry through the Windows Registry Editor.
However, opting for the latter should only be done if you
are well versed in this area. If you remove essential registry entries accidentally, your computer and software
programs will stop functioning properly.
To use the Windows Registry Editor, create registry backup
first. Then remove the unnecessary files. Here is how to do it: Click on the Start button and then Run. This
will open up a new window where you can run commands.
In the Run command window, type in “regedit.” Press OK.
Another window will appear. At the top of the window, clock on the
File option; then click Export.
Here is where you can create a name for your back up file,
type it out, and save it. Once the backup has been created, close out that window and the Window Registry Editor
window.
If you still feel uncertain how to utilize this process,
check with a friend or family member who is proficient in this area, and have them walk you through this
process.
