How to Clean a PC
Do you own a desktop
computer?
If so, care and maintenance is needed to ensure it is
running at its optimum level.
Here are some suggestions on how to clean your
computer.
1. Shut down the computer and unplug the
cord from the wall or surge protector.
2. Monitor. Never use water, sprays, or anything else on your monitor
screen. You can purchase a lint free/static free cloth
instead.
3. Use a damp cloth to clean the monitor
frame and stand.
4. The PC. Here you have to be extra careful. Use a damp cloth to clean the sides and top of the PC only. Use the Swifter duster to rid the dust from the front of the PC as well as the
back. You do not have to unplug all the cables from the back using
this method.
Note: If you have an Hewlett Packard PC, there is a little
door in the front of the PC that slides down. Ensure you dust in
there as well.
5. Keyboard. There are keyboard cleaning kits you can purchase at your office supply
store. It comes with a mini brush to clean in between the rows of
keys. If you want to get rid of any debris inside, turn the
keyboard upside down and shake it.
You can also use a damp cloth to clean the outer edges of
the keyboard as well as the spaces in between the keys.
6. Mouse. Use a damp cloth to clean the mouse as well.
Now that you have cleaned the computer, monitor, and PC;
might as well clean the printer too.
Just run a damp cloth over the sides and front of the
printer. If you can remove the printer tray, you can clean that as
well. Use a duster to clean the top of the printer where the
buttons are located.
Now you can turn on the power, plug in the cord, and enjoy
your time on the internet.
