How to Clean a Deep Fat Fryer
Owning a deep fat fryer is one thing;
cleaning it is another.
Here are some suggestions on how to
effectively clean this unit.
1.
After use; turn off the fryer. Let the fat cool
down.
2.
Drain the fat.
3.
Remove the basket screen and rid the fat from the side of
the bowl. Clean
the basket.
4.
Clean the bowl next. If the bowl is very dirty, you can fill
it with hot water as well as a tablet used in
dishwashers.
Boil for five to ten minutes. Drain the water, rinse
with vinegar and water, then plain water, and
dry.
5.
If the fryer has a filter in the lid, you can place it
safely in the dishwasher.
One of the major problems, if you will,
in maintaining a deep fat fryer has to do with the cooking
oil. If it is
well cared for, it will last without needing to be
changed.
But if the temperature is too high or
it is not cleaned often, the oil will
degrade.
Moreover, the oil can solidify and bake into the
basket.
Simply cleaning the basket after each use will keep the
oil from caking.
While these suggestions may sound easy,
there may be some older models that are harder to
clean.
Therefore, here is another recommendation.
Today, there are deep fat fryers
available that are better suited for
cleaning.
One particular model is “very easy to clean because once
you have removed the power connector at the front of the
fryer, it breaks down into four pieces: Lid, basket,
bowl, and outside housing.
All of these can be safely put into a
dishwasher or immersed in water for cleaning. There is a
permanent filter in the lid which again is dishwasher
safe.”
Always read the cleaning instructions
provided with each deep fryer and as long as it is properly
maintained, cleaning it will become less of a
hassle.
